The house itself is a showstopper: the woodwork is simply magnificent, the kind of craftsmanship that stops you mid-conversation just to stare. Sleep came easy too — the place is so peacefully quiet that the only voices we heard all weekend were the ones gathered around the breakfast table. Which, speaking of, leads us to those stuffed blueberry waffles. We were greeted by the hosts upon arrival and given a brief tour and history of the home. Everything was so beautiful, warm, and well-kept. So much hard work must go into preserving the beauty of this house.
We stayed in the Captain's Quarters, and I can't recommend it enough. The bed was very comfortable, and the jacuzzi fit the two of us comfortably.
The breakfasts were delicious, and cooked perfectly!

Philip E.6/01/2026Spencer House impresses! Steve and Lisa’s passion for the place shows up big time! My wife and I stopped in at Spencer House twice in one week as we drove to and from Cleveland. First thing we noticed was the lovely garden full of flowering lilies. Steve and Lisa met us and made us feel at home right away. The first night we stayed in the palatial presidential suite which was a sight to behold with all the original woodwork and antique furniture. The bed was certainly not antique though. It was super comfortable. Ditto the king sized bed in the Captains Quarters on the second night. Loved the maritime theme of the room and the large bathroom with the jacuzzi tub. The history of the house was interesting and the amazing woodwork about the place was impressive. All in all a pleasant stay. Highly recommend!Bruce B.6/01/2026Must visit! Steve and Lisa were perfect hosts as the daily breakfast was wonderful, and their willingness to share points of interest nearby and some of the history of the area was much appreciated. The building itself is historic and well-kept, with many intricate details in the architecture and decor. The rooms themselves are comfortable and well-appointed, including modern amenities without detracting from the original charm. The sea-faring theme and the Jacuzzi tub in the Captain's Quarters were delightful to come back to after a long day of traveling. The rooms and the inn overall was spectacularly clean. At night, the atmosphere was cozy and quiet, allowing for a restful night of sleep. The breakfast provided was cooked to order and very delicious! The house is beautiful- a stunning Victorian mansion with great decor. We stayed in Mary’s room which was so cute. It was quiet, homey, and restful. The breakfasts were amazing- two courses, plated beautifully, and delicious! Steve and Lisa were the sweetest hosts. We enjoyed being so close to Presque Isle State Park and experiencing winter by Lake Erie!

The pictures truly do not do it justice. We felt welcome as soon as we walked in the door. The bed in our room was exceptionally comfortable, and the place was absolutely spotless. The Innkeepers, Steve and Lisa, have made this a truly wonderful place to stay. The breakfasts were fantastic, and the care and service were extraordinary.
My husband and I have stayed in many B&B's over the past decade or so, and would rate this well within the top 3, probably even our absolute favorite! We stayed in the President's Room and enjoyed the extra space. The house is located in the heart of Erie with easy access to anything you might want in the area.
